College Applications: A Quick Reference Print E-mail
Follow these steps to ensure your college applications and/or scholarships are handled in a timely manner:
  • Fill out your portion entirely (may be completed online).
  • Attach the application fee check to the application (may be completed online). If you qualify for free or reduced lunch you may ask your counselor for an application fee waiver. Students may use up to five waivers for applications.
  • Fill out a transcript request form found in the Counseling office.
  • Submit the entire application with your transcript request form attached to the front to the guidance secretary.
  • Your counselor will complete the counselor portion of the application and mail it directly to the college/university.

Pieces of a College Application:

  • The Application
  • Fee or waiver
  • Resume of Activities
  • Personal Statement/Essay
  • Letters of Recommendation
  • The Counselor Portion
  • Test Results (must be sent directly from ACT or SAT)
  • Transcripts

How to Request Letters of Recommendation

  • Ask teacher or counselor if he or she is willing to write a letter.

  • Allow 2-week minimum for completion
  • Request completed letter be returned to you or your counselor
  • Write a brief thank-you note to each writer
