Provides opportunities for learning about family responsibilities for intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of children. Emphasis is given to understanding young children and their growth and development. Family living explores current interest topics and special problems of young adults. Students will study changing roles and responsibilities of families and its members as people move through many stages of life. Special focus is given to concerns that teens face as the move into adulthood.

Consumer Perspectives explores the many aspects of becoming a more skillful consumer in our highly sophisticated and technologically oriented market place. Emphasis will be placed on techniques to manage personal and family goals through the use of money, time, energy, and talents. Students will also develop ways to exercise consumer rights and responsibilities.

This course is designed for students interested in researching current trends in nutrition, diet, and health. Laboratory experiences will provide opportunity to understand nutrition principles, and encourage improved decisions concerning personal diet and eating habits, present and future. Nutrition needs for the teenage lifestyle, the athlete, and special diets will be investigated.

This class incorporates the use of textiles to create projects that are artistic in nature. Creativity is emphasized and projects will include a wide variety of techniques and resources. The history of each project concept along with the elements of color and design will also be studied.
