computeruser.pngCC8111 Computer Literacy 0.50 Units
This course introduces students to basic computer applications, including keyboarding skills that focus on « touch typing, » as well as proficiency in word processing and the Microsoft Windows computer environment.  Students are taught to type personal and business letters, reports, references, title pages, term papers and other professional documents used in school and in business.  Students gain experience in using presentation software and several Internet projects.  This is not a course in computer programming.

computers.pngCC6211 Computer Concepts (Multimedia) 0.50 Units
This course is open to students at any grade level.  Students will learn successful use of the Microsoft Office suite of applications.  This includes learning how to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. Students will also be introduced to HTML as a web page creation tool.

CC6311 Computer Concepts (Visual Basic) 0.50 Units
This course is open to students at any grade level (freshmen encouraged to enroll).  Students will learn how to author their own web pages.  The coursework will start with basic HTML programming using style sheets and using JavaScript programming to create interactive web pages.  No prior computer experience is necessary.  Students will spend the majority of class time working with the computer to create their own web pages.

Prerequisite: Algebra (10th-12th Grade)
Are you a 9th grader looking for an elective for next year?  Do you enjoy math, but want to see how it can be applied to something other than math homework?  Computer science is the class for you!  In computer science you will be introduced to programming in the Java language as well as computer architecture.  Learn how to write your own programs.  This class is a prerequisite for IB CS 1, and IB CS 2, classes that can be used as the 6th subject for a full diploma student.  This class is open to 10th, 11th, and 12th graders.

CC751B IB Computer Studies I 1.00 Unit
Prerequisite: Computer Science
This course expands a student’s study of computers and starts to focus the student’s attention to Software Engineering rather than computer programming.  Advanced projects in the disciplines highlighted in Computer Science are expanded to fulfill the syllabus of the International Baccalaureate.  This course will place a major emphasis on developing understanding of the Software Lifecycle, algorithms, designing and implementing computer applications, with studies expanding to networking computers, computer mathematics and computer architecture.

CC751C IB Computer Studies 2 1.00 Unit
This course continues a student’s study of computer science and the preparation for the HL (higher level) IB exam in Computer Science.  Students will continue to study the design and development of computer programs, plus they will focus on the development of advanced programming constructions.  Students will expand their understanding of data structures, files, objects, classes and records, plus study the related topics of computer design.
