Bookstore

The bookstore is open daily from before school until 2:30pm.  The bookkeeper sells school supplies and collecting student fees.  Students should use the bookstore only before school, between classes, or during their lunch hour.  Being at the bookstore is not an excuse for being late to class!

Students have the right to choose to take certain classes for pass/fail credit rather than a grade.  To take this option, students must pick up a pass/fail card either from the attendance office, room 134 or the guidance office, room 212.  Cards must be completely filled out and signed by both the student and parent/guardian and returned to the attendance office, room 134 by the prescribed date listed on the card.

Bus Passes

Bus passes are only available to athletes who sign up for them starting with the 2009-2010 school year.  All students who qualify for bussing have been assigned a yellow bus.  Eligibility is based on the criteria established by the Milwaukee Board of School Directors:  Students who live 2 or more miles away from school will receive transportation.See your coach to sign up for a bus pass.

Special Education

Milwaukee Public Schools has several programs that serve students with special needs including:  autism, vision disabilities, deaf and hearing impairments, emotional/mental health disorders, home or hospital confinements, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, cognitive disabilities, school-age parenting, and speech and language difficulties.  IEP (Individual Education Plan) teams evaluate each child before placement is made in a special education program.  Periodic reviews are made by the IEP team after the child is in the program.  The law encourages special education children to be included as much as possible in regular classes and schools.

If a teacher, administrator, or other personnel suspects that a student has special education needs, a referral must be made to the Building Coordinator, Dr. Nancy Berg, the school psychologist, who will take appropriate action to ensure that the student is referred to the appropriate supportive services.
