Information:

Mr. Docktor has been at King since the start of the 2000-01 school year, and he currently teaches Pre-IB English 9 Survey and IB English I. He has served as an assistant Forensics coach, academic decathlon advisor, faculty moderator of the school newspaper, and is currently the chess club moderator. He came to King after serving nearly eight years as the MPS Shelter Liaison, advocating on behalf of all the homeless students in the Milwaukee community and operating an after school education program for youth at a local shelter. Mr. Docktor previously taught English and served as Dean of Student Activities at Austin Preparatory School in Reading, MA from September of 1988 to May of 1991.

Mr. Docktor graduated from Boston College with a double major in English and Philosophy; he received his post-baccalaureate certification in Secondary Ed-English from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee; and earned his Masters degree from UWM in 2000. In addition, he received National Board Teacher Certification in Young Adult Language Arts in 2006. He served as the president of the Wisconsin Chapter of the Boston College Alumni Association from 1992-2006, and he received the “Young Alumni Achievement Award” from BC in 1995 for his work in the area homeless shelters. He has been hosting the talk show “Community Shares TV/A-Choice Voice” on cable access for nearly twelve years. He received an Earthwatch Expedition educator grant and traveled to Portugal to study bird migration patterns in 2005. He has been nominated for a Disney Excellence in Teaching Award, and his IB English I students have voted him the winner of the Vladimir Lenin look-alike contest for five straight years.

In his spare time, Mr. Docktor has been cataloging his old papers from his high school and college years in case the Smithsonian requests them. He is tired of responding to rumors that he was once a world class whiffle ball player, toured with The Clash, and was a former alligator wrestler. He did, however, once run the Boston Marathon, and he has written a collection of unpublished stories.
