The New (but Familiar) Face of Rufus King |
If you visit the school, you might notice a few things have changed -- or you might not. Over the past five years, a number of improvements have enhanced, but not forsaken the historic character of the building.
For instance, an entire wing was added to the back of the building for new science classrooms, and the south outdoor alcoves (next to the study halls and library) were filled-in to allow more classroom and office space. Some alumni who have visited have remarked that they didn't even notice changes to the exterior, given the architects' fine work. The new windows may be screened, but the green color and panes capture the original look of the building. Finally, a handsome new announcement board was installed in fall of 2003, with funds primarily raised by the current parent/teacher/student organization, with a contribution from the classes of 1967 and 1968. |
