hickman.jpgCraig Hickman is a poet, critic, performance artist, cultural activist, and author of the acclaimed memoir, Fumbling Toward Divinity: The Adoption Scriptures, which chronicles his search for and reunion with his birth mother and family. The book was recently named a Lambda Literary Award Finalist. He has penned two other books, including the bestseller Rituals: Poetry & Prose. 

He is the biological great grandson of Madree Penn White, co-founder of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. He received his bachelor's degree from Harvard University in 1990.  He has received a fellowship from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a Gertrude Johnson Literary Award, and the James Baldwin Award for Cultural Achievement. He splits his time between Massachusetts and Maine, where he and his partner run a heavenly farm and bed & breakfast.
