Friends of Islam will hold its first meeting of the 2010-2011 school year. Please join us in Room 308, Wednesday August 25th, as we make plans for another exciting year. You don't need to be a Muslim to join Friends of Islam; you only need an open mind and a willingness to learn and a desire to meet new people. Attention NHS Members: Mark your calendar - our first general meeting is Wednesday, August 25th, in room 327. The meeting will start at 2:45 pm. Leadership is the focus of our first meeting. This month’s guest speaker will be Mr. Gessner - his focus, skillful leadership.

- Laborfest – Monday, September 6th, at the Summerfest grounds. Sign-up with Mr. Wagner in room 304 before or after school.
- Bayview Bash - Saturday September, 18th, in Bayview on KK. Additional information will be provided at Wednesday's meeting.

Do you like to read books and talk about books with a group of enthusiastic people? You just might like to check out the Rufus King Book Club. We read a different book each month and get together to share our opinions. Pick up a Library Club Survey to find out more. An envelope will be posted on the library doors with surveys inside. Don’t forget to stop by the library in room 227 today!
Interested in helping plan Homecoming and spirit week? If so, please join the Homecoming committee! We are looking for students of all grades to participate. Our first meeting will be Thursday, after school, in room 305. Please see Ms. Knueppel with any questions.
All former members of Amnesty International are encouraged to attend the meeting tomorrow after school, August 25th, in room 202 to plan for our first organizational meeting.
Do you like science? If you do, please attend an informational meeting about the Rufus King Science Olympiad team on Thursday, right after school, in room 133. You will learn about some of the events from past team members.
Robots, robots, robots!
There will be an informational meeting for all students interested in joining this years robotics team this Wednesday after school. Please meet in Room 125, Mr. Lund's physics room, on Wednesday right after school. You will get to meet some of the current team members, recieve general information about the team, and learn about this years student VEX robot challenge.
Great America, Noah's Ark, State Fair, Miller Park, Bradley Center, Mayfair Mall, favorite movie theater or restaurant,,,, the open road! What do all of these things have in common? Well you have to get there to take advantage of them, right? And here is the announcement that MANY of you have been waiting for to give you the tool to do just that! Driver's Education is BACK here at Rufus King and MPS! That's Right I said DRIVER'S EDUCATION for any student age 15 1/2 yrs old who is interested in taking Driver's Ed. THIS fall semester. There will be a short informational meeting for those students who are interested In Driver's Ed. THIS Friday right AFTER SCHOOL in Rm. 327. Meeting will begin promptly at 2:45 and be done by 3:00. For questions see Mr. Dupies wondering in the Halls.
Attention! Attention! All Lady Generals… join the Rufus King Girls Swim Team. Swimming is fun, low key, and sweat free. Meet new people and get the chance to compete with the best in the city. If interested please turn in all necessary sports forms to the athletic office and meet the team outside by the 19th Street exit after school Go-o-o-o Generals!
There will be a freshmen football meeting after school on Friday in room 205. Any freshmen who is interested in playing football should attend. Again, that's a freshmen football meeting this Friday after school in room 205.
Interested in Debate or Forensics? Come to room 104 today after school to pick up information and sign up! For those who can stay, we will be giving an overview of the activities for the seasons. Come to the Speaking Side, we have cookies!
Attention all Link Crew Leaders! The meeting originally scheduled for today has been moved to Friday after school in Mr. Machut’s room, room 129. This will be a drop in meeting that should last approximately 10 – 15 minutes.
