Congratulations to our FIRST Robotics Team on their continued success!
Team 1675, a group of students from Bradley Tech and Rufus King high schools, this weekend finished at a higher level than any other Milwaukee Public School robotics team that has competed in the world FIRST Robotics championship. The event was held in St. Louis April 27-30, 2011 and attracted more than 11,000 students and an estimated 25,000 attendees.
The team, which qualified after it received the prestigious Chairman’s Award at the Midwestern Regional competition, ranked ninth out of the 88 teams in their division with a record of 7 wins, 2 losses, and 1 tie. In the elimination rounds, the team was seeded eighth but lost in the quarter finals.
“We’re incredibly proud of the students for their technical capabilities. Some of the games they played were the highest scoring matches of their division,” said team advisor Paul Juztronka, a Rufus King teacher. “They also gained tremendous experience working with professionals at the competition, discovering what makes other teams excel, and meeting other students from around the world, including China, Mexico, Israel and Japan.”
