Team member Eva Lam selected to All America Academic Team A team of students from Rufus King recently represented the State of Wisconsin in the Panasonic National Academic Challenge in Orlando, Florida. The event was held from June 17 to 21 with teams from 30 states, the District of Columbia and Guam.
Students on the Rufus King Academic Challenge team included Michael Balistreri, Julia Chou, Samuel Daly, Dan Hatten, Sarah Hinkfuss, Eva Lam, Corin Purifoy and Toby Schwartz. The Rufus King team was a finalist in the championship round, finishing sixth. Team member Eva Lam, a junior, was one of six participants selected to the All America Academic Team. Each of the regionally selected students received a $1,000 scholarship and a medallion. A week earlier, Eva Lam won a $6,000 scholarship as the national debate champion at the National Forensic League's National Speech and Debate Tournament. "The achievement of this team is very positive because all but one student will return next year," said Dave Forecki, team coach. |
