We are again making a special effort to improve punctuality to school and classes as statistics indicate a strong correlation between punctuality, good attendance, and good grades.  We elicit your help in making sure that your son/daughter arrives to school promptly and in reinforcing the importance of getting to all classes on time.

Students can arrive at school as early as 7:45 a.m., through the 19th Street door, and go directly to the cafeteria.  Breakfast is served daily.  Students can also study or just relax.

The regular school day begins at 8:20 a.m. at which time students are allowed access to their lockers and the hallways. The warning bell rings at 8:30 a.m. and lets students know that they have five minutes to get to period 1 class. At 8:35 a.m., the tardy bell rings for the beginning of period 1 classes.  All students who are not in class by that time, including late arriving students, must report directly to the cafeteria where teachers are on duty to give them a tardy pass.  They should then move quickly to their lockers, if necessary, and get to period 1 class immediately.

After 8:45 a.m., any student who comes to the tardy room has to remain there until dismissal to his/her locker a few minutes before the end of period 1.

Students that arrive at school during period 2 must report directly to the Attendance Secretary for a tardy pass and then move quickly to class where the teacher will mark him/her accordingly.
Students that arrive school after period 2 (periods 3-8), must report directly to the Attendance Secretary and show a written excuse for tardiness from the parent or guardian.  If there is no written excuse, a parent or guardian must be contacted by the Attendance Secretary prior to a student going to class.

In the event of a legitimate absence, please call the attendance office (267-0760) to report the absence and also send a written excuse with your child when he/she returns to school.  These excuses are kept on file in the attendance office.
