Badger BOYS STATE

Description: For eight days young men from all over Wisconsin will carry out all the main functions fo city, county, and state government using basic laws and fundamental procedures of the State of Wisconsin as their guide.

Location Ripon College

Cost:  $235 but sponsons might be available

BROADREACH

Description:  Educational adventures including scuba sailing, marine biology and wilderness programs. Tis are 14 - 31 days in June, July and Angust

Location:  include Caribbean, Central and South America France

CAMP COFAC

Description:  A studio ars camp at UW-Stevens Point offered by the College of Fine Arts & Communication  It takes place from June 21 - June 27, 2009, and culminates in a gallery showing of the campers are work.

Location: UW- Stevens Point

Cost: $750 , scholarships available for free/reduced lunch students

 

CARLETON LIBERAL ARTS EXPERIENCE

Description:  Carleton will select 50 sophomore students for all expenses paid one-week summer parogram.  Carleton will introduce the strengths of a liberal arts education through an array of courses in the sciences, social sciences, art, and technology.

College Acess PROGRAM

Description:  Three-week residential program that explores opportunities at UW-Madison, helps prepare you for college, develops writing skills, problem solving skills and math/science skills.

Location: UW-Madison

Cost:  $500, scholarships for free/reduced lunch

COLLEGE FOR TEENS

Description:  Provides a wide array of exciting high academic potention subject matter.  Taught by faculty of UWM, the program offers one and two week classes

ENGINEERING SUMMER PROGRAM

Description:  A six-week residental progrm for students currently in the 10th and 11th grade.  Focusing on math and science the program will help you gain a better understanding of the field of engineering.

Location UW-Madison

Cost; Free to minority students with a 3.0GPA

EARN & LEARN

Description: 8 week program beginning June 22 where students work throughout various city government departments.  20hrs/wk, $7.25 per hour, 16 - 19 years old

HIGH SCHOOL OUTDOOR LEADER PROGRAM

Description:  Summer job where students learn about the natural world and share their knowledge with othrs.

MARIAN UNIVERSITY

Description:  Business camp(overnight) June 21- 26, Criminal Justice Canmp(overnight) June 22 - 24, and Nursing Camp (day) June 15 - 18

Location: Marian University, Fond du Lac WI.

Cost:  $295 for business, $199 for Criminal Justice, and $25 for Nursing

MEDICAL CAREER PROGRAM

Description;  For students seriously considering a medical career.  ACT preparation, Advanced courses in biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics.  3.0GPA, financially disadvanged or first generation college

Location:  Marquette

Cost: free, housing meals and stipend

MIAD SUMMER PROGRAM

Description:  Apply online, June 22 - July 10 variety of courses

Location;  Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design 273 E. Erie St

Cost;  Free for free/reduced lunch studens, for others the cost will vary

 MSOE UPWARD BOUND

Description:  Six-week residential program, courses which prepare for next school year, ACT prep classes, college visits

Location:  MSOE

Cost:  Free, if a free/reduced lunch student and a first generation to college

READING SKILLS WORKSHOP

Description:  Four 2-hour sessions at various times through-out the summer,

Location:  Marquette University

Cost:  Varies

 SUMMER SCIENCE INSTITUE

Descripton:  Students work with a mentor on specific research projects that entails indeph, hands-on research.  Must have a 2.75 GPA .  June 21 - August 7

Location:UW-Madison

Cost:  Free

SUMMER SCIENCE ENRICHMENT PROGRAM IN HEALT CAREERS

Description; Six weekk program. Students will interact with professionals in health careers.  Emphasis will be placed ondeveloping stron academic skills and skill working in a laboratory setting.  3.0 GPA. Must have taken biology and chemistry.  Financially disadvantaged or first generation college.

SUMMER WRITING PROGRAM

Description: A residential program that teaches you how to compose academic papers similar to those you will write in college. You will have access to the campus's cultural activities and recreational activities.

Location;  Carleton College ( Minnesota)

Cost:  $2,395 A limited number of scholarships are available .

URBAN ECOLOGY LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

Description:  Gives high school students the opportunity to develop leadership, mentoring and outdoor skills, gain job experience through a summer internship

Location: At summer camps throughout the state

Cost: Minimal cost but each leader will receive a $600 stipend and the opportunity to apply fo r a part time j9og at the Center

URBAN JOURNALISM WORKSHOP

Description:  Two-week residential program, receive instruction in news, feature and sports writing, learn video, audio,Web and print production, conduct interviews with Milwaukee newsmakers, and attend editing sessions with professionals from Milwaukee Journal Sentines

Description:  5-week residential of academic, career, cultural and recreational activities

VOLLEYBALL CAMP

Description:  A week residential camp provided by college coaches

WISCONSIN BUSINESS WORLD

Description:  By acting as an executive management team running your onw business you and your peers will learn about out free enterprise system.  June 28 - July 1 or July 26 - July 29

Location: UW Lacrosse

Cost:  $100

YOUTH ENTERPRISE ACADEMY

Description:  This 11-day program introduces students to how our free market economy works and individual roles within the economy.  Open only to 9th and 10th grader.  Each student who attends all sessions, is an active participant and completes all assignments will receive a $500 U.S.Savings Bond

ZOO: HIGH SCHOOL ASSISTANT VOLUNTEER POSITION

Description: Assist with a college intern a small group of children in the classroom in the zoo

Location:  Milwaukee County Zoo

Volunteer Position
