Wrestling 2008 - 2009

The 2007 – 2008 version of the Rufus King Wrestling Team did very well. The wrestlers had over 45 matches..  The team was led by captains: Edgar Vizcarra and Will Larry.  The seniors; Brandon Carus, Keng Thao, Dion Framer, Tom Buckholt, Chris Wiley, Beau Oleson, and Nick Blumenberg  all were involved in spirited victories.  Freshmen Chris Bauer will have great opportunities in the next three years.  Sophomores; Jonathan Gonzalez, Phil Lewis, Angel Daleccio, Romero Ross and Anthony Wilson have been steadily improving. 

Edgar Vizcarra has been the MVP of the team with 39 wins, 64 takedowns, 20 victories by pin and an 89% winning percentage.  Edgar was All Conference and a Regional Champion.  Keng Thao and Phil Lewis were 2^nd at Regional.  Dion Farmer and Angel Daleccio were 3^rd at Regional.  All five wrestlers represented King at Sectionals.

Edgar Vizcarra was the first King Wrestler to go to state since Beau Plath in the 1990’s.

Coach Glasenapp was excited about the “March to State” with this experienced team.  However Coach lost many seniors and is looking forward to a larger number of wrestlers on the team this year.  He feels the team has the nucleus of a fine team, but needs to add a few pieces.  Could that be you?  There are 14 weight classes in wrestling and you only wrestle people in your weight class.  If you are interested in Wrestling see Coach Glasenapp.
